Fitness Training

Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy offers individualized golf fitness training plans to help students obtain their goals in golf faster and more completely.

Fitness is essential for building a champion golfer. The fitness element of each of our programs propels students to be better athletes. Our coaches are focused on preventing injuries and preparing the body for performing at an elite level in the golf swing, both in the gym and on the range.

Part of what makes GGGA’s fitness training unique is our fitness team work on the range with our students and golf coaches every day to reinforce movement patterns and enhance body function. The group fitness program provided in the gym is supported by individual drills on the range.   This kind of individual support on the range accelerates the player’s overall development.

With the addition of the National Training Center (NTC) as a GGGA partner, juniors in the Full-Time Junior Program will experience fitness and performance training for students unparalleled at any other junior golf academy in the world. The training team at NTC work with many Olympic athletes and in partnership with GGGA golf specific fitness trainers, ensures that GGGA’s students reach new heights in their development.

Improving athletic ability

At GGGA, our trainers are TPI certified with degrees in Kinesiology or Exercise Science. Learn more about our Fitness Performance Coach Trevor Hypolite by clicking HERE. They are passionate about their students and pushing them to elite levels.  To best support our technical training, fitness coaches assess students at the start and end of their training program on conditioning, functionality and fundamentals. Results from these individual assessments help the Fitness Team maximize group training and make recommendations for individual private training.

A functional golfer has tremendous athletic ability, coordination and muscular endurance. Through the fitness training program at GGGA, each student will learn to improve their:

  • stability, balance and mobility
  • strength
  • rotational power
  • durable upper and lower body separation
  • flexibility
  • nutrition choices

To me, the biggest thing in golf is preparation, which is the set up. When the body is healthy, its aligned and its in balance, it’s so much easier to set up to your putting, your chipping and your full swing.
