GGGA student Eliott Azoulay wins FCWT at Mission Inn
Feb. 4, 2013
GGGA student Eliott Azoulay led wire-to-wire to win his first FCWT event and his first as a student at the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy.
Azoulay, of France and who is a student in the Full-Time Junior Program at GGGA, opened up a four-shot lead after round one with a 2-under 70 on the El Campeon Course at Mission Inn Resort and Club. Playing at the home of GGGA, Azoulay notched four birdies on that opening nine with back-to-back birdies on Nos. 3-4 and Nos. 8-9.
On Sunday, Azoulay got off to a little bit of a tough start on the front as he turned in 3-over 38, but he was able to steady the ship as he finished with a 4-over 76 to finish the event at 2-over 146 in the Boys 16-19 Division.
Azoulay, a senior at Montverde Academy, also has six top 5s in FCWT events to go along with his win but has not yet committed to a college team for 2013.
In the Girls 13-18 Division, GGGA students took second, third and fourth place. Yuka Kajiki, of Japan, took second, Anna Sophia Bohmer, of Colombia, who committed to Florida State University in the fall finished third and Harley Dubsky, of Valparaiso, Ind., took fourth.
The Future Collegians World Tour event at Mission Inn Resort and Club was a 36-hole event played Feb. 2-3 on the El Campeon Course in Howey in the Hills, Fla.
