GGGA 2015 Class Sign College Golf National Letters of Intent
By GGGA Team on April 16, 2015

Wednesday was a very rewarding day.

Four GGGA Students are college bound after signing their college golf National Letters of Intent to the school of their dreams: Angela Xu (New Mexico State), Qiqi Wang (Appalachian State), Emma Mesta (University of Texas Pan- American)(Not Pictured), and Charlotte Ng (Illinois Springfield). There is no denying the dedication these girls have had toward reaching their goal of playing college golf. It’s very clear that they are more than prepared to take this next step.

“Being at the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy didn’t just teach me to train, set goals, play well and achieve everything, but it also taught me to be mature with my decisions.” Emma said. “This is how I know that I’m ready for college, and I am thankful to the Academy and my parents for that.”

Qiqi Wang, who attended GGGA for four years, also shared some of her experience and what it means to her.

What has prepared you the most, in terms of your training, to allow you to get to this point and to play at this level?

“What prepared me the most was my parents. They taught me everything. However, I have learned many lessons just by the fact of being away from home. Being in Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy didn’t just teach me to train, set goals, play well and achieve everything, but it also taught me to be mature with my decisions. This is how I know that I’m ready for College and I’m thankful with the Academy and my parents for that.”

What does it mean to you to finally get to sign your college letter of intent?

“When I first got in GGGA four years ago, I set my long term goal as getting into division 1 college and play on the golf team. So this letter means a lot to me. It means that all of my hard work pays off, and I’ve reach that goal.”

Why did you decide on Appalachian State University?

“Appalachian State has a really good program. The team is competitive and everyone of the players have determination. Their positive attitudes influenced me a lot. That’s why in the end, I chose Appalachian State.”

What are some other goals that you have while you are in college?

“In college, I want to play in a lot tournaments and build experience. My dream is to become a professional golfer, meanwhile I want to keep up with school.”

What has prepared you the most, in terms of your training, to allow you to get to this point and to play at this level?

“My coach helped me a lot. It is important to communicate with your coach; He gave me a lot advice. And it is important to do good in school. I think what would take me to the next level is to put more quantity in practice. Practice doesn’t make perfect golf, only perfect practice make perfect golf.”
